The 7th Red Tulip Film Festival Kicks Off

The "Red Tulip Film Festival" has kicked off with Andaç Haznedaroğlu's film "Aleppo - Istanbul / The Guest" in Amsterdam.

During the event, Yunus Emre Institute's Amsterdam Branch Director Abdullah Altay delivered a keynote speech, stressing the importance the Institute attaches to cultural diplomacy. He stated that cinema is one of the most important elements that bring together diverse cultures.

As part of the festival held between May 29 and June 2 with support from Yunus Emre Institute's Netherlands Branch, nine Turkish films were screened for moviegoers in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Delft in the Netherlands.

At the festival, held for the 7th time, "Anons" (Announcement), directed by Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun, won the "Best Film" award. The film was picked up by Turkish and Dutch jury members as the best film and its director, Coşkun, was selected as the "Best Director." "Taksim Hold'em" directed by Michael Önder received the "Mention" award, given for the first time.
