"Cities of Al-Matraki" in Zenica
The miniature exhibition "Matrakçı's Cities", consisting of the works of the Miniature Artist Nasuh Matrakçı, who lived in the city of Zenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Ottoman period, met with art lovers.
The exhibition which was organized in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute and Zenica Preporod Gallery, attracted great interest. Zenica Preporod Gallery President Amna Sofiç thanked Yunus Emre Enstitüsü for its cooperation in her speech. Sofic also expressed that they are very pleased that Matrakçı Nasuh's miniature exhibition was opened in Zenica after a long struggle.
A VERSATILE ARTIST
Historian Amir Ismiç reminded that Matrakçı Nasuh was a Bosnian and talked about the Bosnians who came to the fore in the Ottoman period. Ismiç explained how important the place of the Bosnians in the Ottoman Empire was in general in Ottoman historical sources.
Zenica University Faculty of Law Lecturer Prof. Dr. Cevad Drino stated that Matrakçı Nasuh should not be viewed as just an artist, and noted that Matrakçı was also a mathematician, athlete, gunslinger, historian and calligrapher.
The exhibition was presented to art lovers until 24 December 2021.
