A Group Exhibition by Young Azerbaijani Artists in London

“Diplomacy Art:  A Group Exhibition Young Azerbaijani Artists” was opened at London Yunus Emre Institute. Opened on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, the exhibition consisted of 56 paintings by 22 young artists.

The exhibition was opened on Monday, July 4, 2022, with the support of London Yunus Emre Institute and Social and Psychological Rehabilitation Center of Youth - Dirchelish. 

A wide range of artists from different age and talent groups ranging from 12-year-old young painters working on self-portraits to talented artists with disabilities and experienced artists who are well-known in their homeland of Azerbaijan took part in the exhibition. 

YOUNG PEOPLE STRUGGLING WITH FINANCIALLY CHALLENGES AND AFFECTED BY THE WAR ARE BEING ATTEMPTED TO REINTEGRATE INTO THE SOCIETY

The preparations for the Diplomacy Art exhibition, dedicated to displaying the rich culture of Azerbaijan with its youth’s creative talents, started in 2019. Established in 1999, the organizer of the exhibition "Dirchelish" Youth Social and Psychological Rehabilitation Center is working on various projects to reintegrate young people who have financial difficulties and who were affected by the war into society. The center, which has been a member of the Youth Department of the Council of Europe since 2006, promotes Azerbaijani culture abroad with the exhibitions it organizes all over the world. These exhibitions, which have been held on different continents since 2010, hosted 1701 works of 345 young artists in total.  

The exhibition is also supported by the Yunus Emre Institute, which attaches great importance to the activities carried out in the field of promoting the culture of Turkish-speaking peoples and raising awareness of Turkish culture and language. At the opening of the exhibition, which was held with the participation of artists and art lovers from Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, London Yunus Emre Institute Director Dr.  Mehmet Karakuş, Youth Social and Psychological Rehabilitation Center Director İslam Bakhshaliyev and Azerbaijan Embassy Undersecretary Rashad Vahabzade emphasized the importance of art and the friendship between Turkey and Azerbaijan in their opening speeches. Immediately after the speeches, a certificate ceremony was held for the artists of the exhibition. 

In the continuation of the event, guests and artists spent a pleasant evening examining the exhibited works accompanied by Turkish Azerbaijani refreshments.  

The exhibition can be visited at London Yunus Emre Institute until Friday, July 8, 2022.
