Lost Piano of Sultan Abdulhamid II Concert in Shkoder

A concert program titled "The Lost Piano of Sultan Abdulhamid II" was held in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Tirana, Shkoder Yunus Emre Institute and Shkoder Municipality.

The concert program was held on December 7, 2022 at the Migjeni Theater in Shkoder, with the performance of pianist Tutu Aydınoğlu and the presentation of Nuray Ocaklı. Turkish Ambassador to Tirana Tayyar Kağan Atay, YEI Shkoder Coordinator Zafer Kıyıcı, Governor of Shkoder Majlinda Angoni, Mayor of Shkoder Bardh Spahia, Speaker of Shkoder Parliament Hilmi Lakti, Mufti of Shkoder Muhammed Sytari, representatives of Turkish and local institutions, diplomatic representatives, art lovers and guests attended the concert program.

In his opening remarks, YEI Shkoder Coordinator Zafer Kıyıcı stated: "I would like to express that as Yunus Emre Institute, we are delighted to bring this project, which shows Sultan Abdulhamid II's interest in classical music with piano and how selective he was in classical music, together with the people of Shkoder." 

The concert consisted of nearly 40 tracks found in the auto-piano purchased for Sultan Abdülhamid II in 1907 being performed by Tutu Aydınoğlu. The setlist included the works of Liszt, Moszkowski, Guno and Necip Pasha's originals Hamidiye Anthem and Turkish Guards. The Sultan was very fond of each of these works, to which the audience also showed great interest.
