Martyrs of July 15 Marked Around The World

July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day is being marked through various activities organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Turkish Cultural Centers.

On the third anniversary of the democracy victory won by the Turkish nation and security forces on July 15, 2016, various events are being held across the country as well as abroad under the coordination of the Communications Department of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey.  

During the events, the public attention will be drawn to the gravity of the risks and threats posed by the Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ) in Turkey and around the world, and the popular willpower will be emphasized.

Inside story of FETÖ meets audience

The documentary entitled "The Network," directed by famed British journalist Andrew Wilson, and prepared by TRT World to demonstrate the inside story of the FETÖ under the coordination of the Communications Department of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, was screened by Yunus Emre Institute's London Branch at the Prince Charles Cinema on Monday, July 8. The screening of the documentary with Albanian subtitles was hosted by Yunus Emre Institute's Tirana Branch in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

The documentary was aired at the Conference Hall of the International Balkan University in Macedonia on Tuesday, July 9, in Berlin and Sarajevo on July 10, in Shkodër, Nur-Sultan and New York on July 11, and in Johannesburg on July 12.  The special screening of the documentary will continue in Bishkek on July 13, in Rome and Pristina on July 14 and in Milan on July 15.

251 saplings from Bosnian students in memory of martyrs

Saplings will be planted in memory of the martyrs on July 15 as part of the events to be conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The students who selected Turkish as their foreign language under the "My Choice is Turkish" project and the Turkish teachers will plan saplings in the schoolyard. Thus, 251 saplings will be planted in memory of the martyrs on July 15, 2019.

"Pedaling for Democracy"

The "July 15 Democracy Cycling Race" will be held with the slogan "Pedaling for Democracy" in cooperation with the Serbian Cycling Federation in the capital of Serbia on Sunday, July 14. In the first leg of the event organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Belgrade Branch, professional cyclists from Turkey and Serbia will compete. The second leg will be a public race which will be attended also by officials from the country office of foreign states and the Serbian Cabinet members and the prominent figures. At the end of the event, an award ceremony will be held for the winners.

July 15 in Photos

The photographs taken by the photojournalists from Anadolu Agency (AA) before and after the coup attempt will be put on display for the world citizens and media organizations.

The exhibition entitled "Victory of Democracy" will be opened after the conference in which Turkish and Egyptian academics will discuss the coup attempt at Yunus Emre Institute in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and it will be open to visitors for a week.

The documentary entitled "From Night to Dawn: July 15," produced by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), which describes the events that occurred on the night of July 15 in chronological order, will be screened in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute's Tehran Branch in the capital of Iran.  The Institute's gallery will house 25 photographs from AA's archives which will be open to visitors for six days.

A commemoration ceremony will be held in the morning of July 15 with the participation of Turkish citizens and those working at the Turkish organizations in Palestine, particularly including the Turkish Consulate General in Jerusalem. Following the ceremony, the exhibition consisting of photographs from AA's archives will be launched at the Turkish Cultural Center of Yunus Emre Institute's Jerusalem Branch and open to visitors until Saturday, July 20.
