Mawlid al-Nabi Festivities in Cairo

Turkish musicians performed Sufi music in the company of the "Mawlawi Sema Ceremony," which was part of the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, during the Manial Festival, held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

During the event organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Cairo Branch and hosted by Prince Abbas Hilmi, the son of Neslişah Sultan, descendant of the last Caliph, Abdulmejid and Khedive Abbas II, who governed Egypt and Sudan between 1892 and 1914, Kadem Musical Ensemble, from Turkey, took stage.

Within the context of the programs conducted in connection with Mawlid al-Nabi, another concert was organized  at the residence of the Turkish embassy in Cairo.. In addition to the concert, the "Göbeklitepe" exhibition featuring the historical adventure of Göbeklitepe since its discovery and organized within the context of 2019 Year of Göbeklitepe was unveiled for the guests.

The last event was conducted at Yunus Emre Institute's Cairo Branch with the participation of the Institute's students and Turkish expats in Egypt on November 11. At the end of the program, a student from the Turkish class sang Turkish and Arabic songs with the musicians.
