“Turkey” was declared as the guest country of Doha International Book Fair this year as 2015 was determined Turkey-Qatar culture year.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü participates in the fair opened on 2 December by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatar Minister of Culture Arts and Cultural Heritage Hamad Bin Abdülaziz Al Kawari, with the event called “Nakkaşhane: Book’s Journey in Ottoman Palace”.

In the Nakkaşhane stand visited also by the President, guests may observe how books were artistically prepared with classical methods before the invention of printing press. “Nakkaşhane” that previously met with booklovers in Budapest Book Fair, Podgorica International Book Fair and Istanbul CNR Expo Book Fair, presents the audience with the opportunity to witness the journey of a book with all its elements from ink to calligraphy, from vignette to binding performed by master artists in a specially designed decor on an area of 22 metre-squares.
