New Cooperation Deals Inked in Malaysia

New international cooperation agreements have been concluded in Malaysia within the framework of the Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Turkey (TABİP), a project conducted by Yunus Emre Institute under the auspices of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic.

The Turkish delegation consisting of TABİP Project Expert Furkan Koca, Düzce University Rector Prof. Dr. Nigar Demircan Çakar, Düzce University Science and Letters Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Uğraş, Düzce University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Öner Abidin Balbay and Specialization in Environmental and Healthcare Technologies Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Hasırcı have conducted talks at four universities in Malaysia, culminating in new international collaborations in the university's specialization areas, namely "Traditional and Complementary Medicine" and "Industrial Recycling of Agricultural Wastes."

On the first day, the delegation had talks on opportunities for cooperation regarding halal food, natural products, information and communication technologies, etc., at the International Islamic University, one of Malaysia's established universities. Following the negotiations, the cooperation protocol was undersigned by Rector Prof. Dr. Nigar Demircan Çakar and International Islamic University Rector Prof. Dr. Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.

On October 29, another talk was held at the Kuala Lumpur office of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The TABİP and Düzce University delegation met Prof. Dr. Hesham Al-Enshasi, the director of the UTM's Bioproduct Development Center, which produces traditional and complementary medical products, and exchanged views.

On the second day, the TABİP and Düzce University delegation paid a visit to the International Islamic University Hospital to discuss potential cooperation. Then, the delegation went to Universiti Malaysia Pahang, where they negotiated important cooperation deals concerning mainly the serial production and global marketing of the traditional and complementary medical products.

Following the talks between the delegations, a memorandum of understanding was inked between the two universities, represented by Düzce University Rector Prof. Dr. Nigar Demircan Çakar, on one hand, and University of Malaysia Pahang Rector Prof. Dr. Wan Azhar Bin Wan Yusoff, on the other. In the wake of the signature of the deal, done within the framework of the TABİP, the delegation was briefed about the products produced by Universiti Malaysia Pahang. The parties also agreed to cooperate on R&D and P&D activities.

On the third and final day of the visit, the delegation went to the Biomass Technology Laboratory of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), which has been already cooperating with the TABİP, and discussed the R&D and P&D opportunities.
