Ömer Seyfettin Introduced in Vienna

A program was organized at the Vienna Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) in which the life, works and worldview of Ömer Seyfettin, one of the important storytellers of Turkish literature, were told.

Turkey's Ambassador to Vienna Ozan Ceyhun, his wife Azize Ceyhun, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Vienna Rövşen Sadıkbeyli, International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation President Günay Efendiyeva attended the program.

Ambassador Ozan Ceyhun, in his speech here, pointed out the importance of Ömer Seyfettin in his own life as a child of a writer and said that Seyfettin, one of Turkey's important writers, is not just a writer and poet but a versatile personality.

In addition to his literature, Ceyhun also recalled that Omer Seyfettin was a soldier and teacher, pointing out the importance of knowing these aspects in order to better understand the author's works and ideas.

“SEYFETTİN BROUGHT SIMPLIFICATION TO TURKISH’’

Mentioning that the author gave very important works to Turkish literature, Ceyhun said, "This is one of the reasons why he is among the writers adopted by our people, who bring simplicity to Turkish. Known as one of the founding names of short storytelling in our country, Seyfettin is one of the founders and pioneers of the Turkism movement in literature."

Known for her work on Ömer Seyfettin, Erciyes University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Hülya Argunşah said that the author, who wrote 166 stories, 103 poems, 222 articles, 17 translations, and 2 plays in his 36-year life, contributed significantly to Turkish literature and intellectual life.

Argunşah stated that Ömer Seyfettin was not indifferent to the social and political developments in his country at a time when the empire was transformed into a nation state and said, "Ömer Seyfettin's field of work does not include only a national language and literature created with this language. At the same time, with all his writings, he also made the suggestion of a 'new human type' of a national era. "

SEYFETTIN'S STORIES TRANSLATED INTO GERMAN

Within the scope of the "Literary bridge uniting the Turkish world" project implemented by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Ömer Seyfettin's book, Stories, translated into German, was also introduced.

International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation President Günay Efendiyeva said that with the contributions of Azerbaijan's Embassy in Vienna and Vienna Yunus Emre Institute, they brought German-speaking readers together with literary pearls that unite the Turkish world.

Efendiyava stated that in the program held yesterday, they introduced the book of poetry anthology of Azerbaijani women poets, and today they presented the book of Stories by Ömer Seyfettin, the well-known author of Turkey and the whole Turkish world, to Austrian readers.

After the video screening of Ömer Seyfettin's life story, the program ended with the works performed by Azerbaijani artist Mehriban Zeki.
