Qanun Concert by Palestinian Children in Jerusalem

Palestinian children who completed their face-to-face and online qanun courses gave a concert at the Jerusalem Yunus Emre Institute.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Jerusalem Yunus Emre Institute and the Jerusalem Youth Cultural Forum on September 1st, 2022. 

MUSIC IS IMPORTANT FOR THE RICHNESS OF OUR CULTURE

The concert was attended by Reha Ermumcu, the director of the cultural center, Mohammed Avar, the director of the Jerusalem Youth Cultural Forum, Palestinian young qanun students, and many Jerusalemites.

Ermumcu said, "Qanun is a difficult instrument to play and learn. Despite this, I consider it very important for young Jerusalemites of this age to learn this instrument in order to preserve and preserve the music of the East and to continue the richness of our maqam music."

Ermumcu noted that they consider it very valuable to learn traditional instruments and share them with the people of Jerusalem and Palestine and underlined that they are trying to contribute to the cultural life in Jerusalem.

Within the scope of the event, a painting exhibition on Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine was opened to visitors in the garden of the cultural center. After the concert, certificates were presented to the young musicians who successfully completed their training.
