Dakar Yunus Emre Institute continues to cooperate with many local institutions in Senegal and bring hundreds of students together under Turkish culture.

A cooperation agreement in the field of education was signed between Dakar Yunus Emre Institute and the African Center for Complementarity in University Education and Promotion (CACSUP) on January 18, 2023.

The signing ceremony hosted by the Institute was attended by Dakar Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Merve Işık Efe and CACSUP President Ibrahima Eloi Sarr.

Turkish Ambassador to Dakar Ahmet Kavas, CACSUP students and representatives of Turkish institutions were also present.

YEI Dakar Coordinator Merve Işık Efe stated, "Our Institute, which has been providing face-to-face Turkish courses at Dakar Yunus Emre Institute since 2020, wanted to make online Turkish courses available to the people of Senegal. Sadly, the lack of technical facilities required for online courses and limited access to the internet have led to low application rates, despite the great interest in these courses."

"Thanks to the cooperation agreement we have signed with CACSUP, all CACSUP students will be able to benefit from the online Turkish courses organized by our Institute free of charge. In addition, the classrooms and advanced technical infrastructure of our Institute will be made available to CACSUP students in Dakar to participate in online courses", Coordinator Efe continued.

HUNDREDS OF CACSUP STUDENTS WILL SPEAK TURKISH

The signed cooperation agreement will enable CACSUP students to attend Yunus Emre Institute's online Turkish courses from anywhere in Senegal.

Students who do not have internet access or the necessary technical means will be able to attend classes in classrooms at Yunus Emre Institute in Dakar via smart boards.

The application started with 20 students in 2 separate classes at the Institute in the first stage and will continue with the online participation of students from other cities of Senegal in the near future.

The Institute aims to have at least 500 students attending courses and learning Turkish by the end of 2023.
