The exhibition titled "Calligraphy", where Sudanese painter Rua Kemal's oil paintings were exhibited was opened at the Khartoum Yunus Emre Institute (YEI).

Representatives of Turkish institutions, art lovers, and students attended the exhibition opened by Turkey's Ambassador to Khartoum İrfan Neziroğlu on June 26, 2022.

Kemal, in his statement after the opening, said, "I prefer to draw in quiet environments. I love all kinds of paints, but my favorite and the one I found myself is oil paints. There are 23 paintings in this exhibition. Almost all of them are my works of oil paintings.’’

Stating that he usually started several paintings at the same time, Kemal said, "For example, I determine the main idea of five paintings. Then I start painting one by one. If I get bored with one, I switch to the other. Thus, I can complete five paintings in a week. I prepared for this exhibition in about four months."

Kemal thanked Ambassador Neziroğlu for his participation and for hosting the Yunus Emre Institute.

"WE ARE TRYING TO BUILD A BRIDGE BETWEEN CULTURE AND ART AND PEOPLES"

Faruk Esen, Khartoum Yunus Emre Institute Director, stated that they support culture and arts like other Yunus Emre centers around the world and that they are trying to build a bridge between peoples with these activities.

Stating that they focus on culture and art activities in addition to Turkish lessons, Esen said, "From the beginning of this year, we have been organizing a book promotion program once or twice a month with our local stakeholders. Today, we host the painting exhibition, which is one of the important elements of culture. We are exhibiting the oil painting plaques of Sudanese painter Rua Kemal at our center."

The exhibition can be visited until Thursday, June 30, 2022.
