Teachers Teaching Turkish to Syrian Children Attend Training of Trainers Program

The teachers who give Turkish language lessons to Syrian children in Reyhanlı district of Hatay attended the "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Training of Trainers" program between November 18 and 20, 2019. The program held in the Education Village in Reyhanlı was attended by 61 teachers from different branches who teach Turkish to Syrian children.

The participants attended theoretical courses as well as practical work, given by the experts from Yunus Emre Institute and field experts, for four days. During the program, seminars were organized on teaching and developing four basic linguistic skills, making use of technological gadgets in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, drama applications, teaching vocabulary and concepts, teaching grammar, developing and administering exams, teaching Turkish to immigrant children as a second language, problems encountered in teaching Turkish, communication with traumatized children, application of harmonization classrooms, and teaching Turkish.

The closing ceremony was attended by Reyhanlı District Director of National Education Ali Arslan and Yunus Emre Institute Turkology and Turkish Instruction Director Prof. Dr. Yavuz Kartallıoğlu, and the participants were issued their certificates of attendance for the "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Training of Trainers" program.
