Turkish Folkloric Dances Staged in Montenegro

The Balkan Music and Performing Arts Ensemble of Trakya University has staged Turkish folkloric dances in the cities of Rožaje and Plav of Montenegro in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute's Cultural Centers in Rožaje and Plav.

The first performance was held at Rožaje Cultural Center on June 6, 2019 with support of Trakya University. Following a concert by the Mehter Band (Ottoman military band), the Balkan Music and Performing Arts Ensemble, trained by Murat İçkır, presented folklore dances from various regions in Turkey to the taste of the residents of Rožaje at the hall of the Cultural Center.

Advisor to Prime Minister of Montenegro Salko Luboder, Rožaje Union of Islam President Ernad Ramovic, and Yunus Emre Institute's Podgorica Branch Deputy Director Can Güray attended the performance which garnered the interest of the residents of Rožaje.

On the second day, the "Turkish Folkloric Dances" show was staged at the Cultural Center in Plav with the attendance of Plav Cultural Center Deputy Director Alija Recematovic and Murat İçkır, the instructor of the Balkan Music and Performing Arts Ensemble of Trakya University.

The performance was the first event conducted by Yunus Emre Institute's Podgorica Branch in Plav, and it won the hearts of the residents of Plav.
