Veteran players Perihan Savaş and Gürkan Uygun have met Albanian moviegoers as part of the "Turkish Film Week" event held by Yunus Emre Institute in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema.

In connection with the screening of the film "Sevdaların Ölümü," the film lead actress Perihan Savaş gave an interview. Turkish Embassy in Tirana Counselor Muammer Hakan Cengiz delivered a keynote speech during the event. He noted that the Turkish cinema has been on the rise both nationally and international during the last 10 years. Cengiz pointed out that the Turkish films have secured millions of viewers in the international arena.

Yeşilçam's veteran actress Savaş expressed her satisfaction for visiting Albania, noting that Albanians are popular in Turkey and the Albanian society is similar to the Turkish society. She stressed that cinema is an important branch of art that reflects the Turkish culture. "This applies to cinema and drama. As you can see, the TV series and films can bring us together. We can explain our own culture to the people from different cultures or religions. This should be supported and increased; I think the reason why the Turkish cinema is so popular in certain countries is that we have done our job well with love and respect and not for the sake of fame," she said.

Actor Gürkan Uygun met moviegoers at the closing program of the "Turkish Film Week."

The program was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Tirana Murat Ahmet Yörük, Yunus Emre Institute Tirana Branch Director Ömer Osman Demirbaş, the representatives of the Turkish institutions and organizations in the country, artists, students and art lovers.

Delivering a keynote speech, Ambassador Yörük stressed that the reputation of Uygun, whom he referred to as the "master actor of the Turkish cinema," has gone beyond Turkey's borders and he is now internationally famous.

An interview was held in connection with the closing film, "Ankara Yazı Veda Mektubu," with the film lead actor Uygun, who drew attention to the similarities between Albanian and Turkish cultures. Uygun gave advice to the acting hopefuls, noting that one should be disciplined and morally-upright in order to be a good player. He wished good luck to all actors and actresses.

The Turkish Film Week, held between March 26 and 30 with support from Turkey's Embassy in Tirana and the Turkish and Albanian institutions and organizations, ended with the screening of "Ankara Yazı Veda Mektubu".
