White Bridge Unveiled

The exhibition "Beyaz Köprü-2" (White Bride-2) by Azerbaijani folk artist Prof. Dr. Arif Aziz, a full member of the World Academy of Arts, which operates under the aegis of UNESCO, was unveiled at Yunus Emre Institute's Baku branch on January 29, 2020 as a joint effort between Yunus Emre Institute's Baku branch and Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

The opening ceremony was attended by Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) to Baku Ufuk Arca Turganer, AMEA Manuscripts Institute Director Ord. Prof. Dr. Teymur Kerimli, AMEA Folklore Institute Director Ord. Prof. Dr. Muhtar İmanov, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts Rector Prof. Dr. Ceyran Mahmudova, Azerbaijan National Museum of Fine Arts Director Çingiz Ferzeliyev, representatives of foreign missions, artists, students and many guests.

The "Hazar Muğam Üçlüyü" ensemble gave a recital featuring Azerbaijan's folk music ahead of the opening.

Painter Arif Aziz delivered a keynote speech at the program, noting that he had opened his first exhibition in Istanbul in 1995. "At that time, it had been unveiled by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Today, I am glad to open my exhibition at Yunus Emre Institute's Baku branch in Baku," he said. Commenting on the name of the exhibition, Aziz stated that the white color represents cleanliness and purity and bridges play an important role in helping people come together.

Following the opening of the exhibition, the film entitled "Arif Aziz," directed by Fariz Ahmedov, was screened at the Institute's conference hall.

The exhibition "White Bridge-2," featuring 24 works, will be open to visitors at the exhibition hall of Yunus Emre Institute's Baku branch until February 7, 2020.
