“The Music Evenings” event was held for the third time in the conference hall of Vienna Yunus Emre Enstitüsü on October 31st 2015. Regularly organized every month, the event where precious music works performed in a concert with conversation attracted the audience. The information on lyrics, composition and composer of four Turkish songs was presented and the songs were performed with stringed instruments. The coordinator of Culture and Arts Halil İbrahim Doğan sang the songs accompanied by twelve instrument players of reed flute, lute, zither, tanbur, kudüm and frame drum.

Mevlüt Doğan, the manager of the institute, stated that they aim to mix the similar cultures by presenting the best pieces of Turkish culture and art. He also added that “The Music Evenings event is crucial for the aim of people in Vienna to understand  Turkish culture better and  to get these two countries closer.”

During the tune segâh section, the songs “Segâh Peşrevi” by reed flüte player Yusuf Paşa, “Benim sen nemisin ey dilber” by Ahmet Rasim and “İncecikten bir kar yağar” by Sadettin Kaynak were performed. In tune hejaz section, the songs “Hicaz Peşrevi” by Veli Dede, “Kend,ne niçin emsal ararsıb” by Medeni Aziz ,“Ey büt-i ney eda” by Dede Efendi and anonymous İzmir zeibek were performed.

Planned to be organized every month regularly, the Music Evenings event is popular among Turkish people living in Austria as well as foreigners.
