Turkish, Bosnian and Arabic Ramadan Hymns Performance in Vienna [1]
Organized by Vienna Yunus Emre Institute and the Bosnian Women’s Choir Mimosa, the Ramadan program was performed with great enthusiasm in Vienna on Monday, April 11.
In the program attended by Consul General of the Republic of Turkey to Vienna Cafer Mert Özmert and Azize Ceyhun, Ramadan hymns were sung in Turkish, Bosnian, and Arabic. The program also included an exhibition of works by Bosnian calligrapher Zana Tahirovic-Hadzic. The Yeden Turkish Music Ensemble performed 10 hymns in 5 different tunes, which are in the Ottoman tradition and performed in the Enderun tarawih. Bosnian Women’s Choir Mimosa sang Ramadan hymns that are included in the Bosnian tradition. Lebanese voice artist Yara Zeitoun, who took part in the program as a guest artist, performed Arabic works. At the end of the concert, the participants had the opportunity to visit the calligraphy exhibition.
At the end of the program, which was heavily attended by Muslim and non-Muslim participants from different nationalities living in Vienna, there was an iftar table with delicacies from Turkish and Bosnian cuisine.
