“A Pinch of Color Workshop” in Beijing
On February 28, 2022, the Beijing Yunus Emre Institute, which conducts events to promote Turkish language and culture in China, held a colorful event with the participation of spouses of foreign military attachés residing in Beijing. In the event, which gathered participants from 30 countries, were formed two different classes. Colorful works inspired by patterns in the art of marbling, one of Turkey's oldest handicrafts, were revealed at the painting session, which attracted a lot of attention.
TURKISH CULTURE IS PROMOTED AT THE ART EVENT
Ayşe Emel Gümüş, a Turkish artist based in Beijing, organized a unique workshop for the attendees. Gümüş taught the workshop participants the subtleties of embroidering marbled designs on various items using brushes during her painting instruction.
During the art event, attendees were given introductory information on Turkey and Turkish culture.
Following the presentation, visitors were offered Turkish tea and coffee, as well as delicious Turkish food delicacies.
THEY WEAR TRADITIONAL TURKISH CLOTHES
Guests dressed traditional Turkish clothing to the event, which was organized by the military attaché spouses of our Beijing Embassy as well as the Beijing Yunus Emre Institute. Participants who got the opportunity to learn about traditional clothing in depth memorialized the vivid moments they had by posing with the outfits they wore.
Beijing Yunus Emre Institute, which organizes lively activities to promote Turkish language, culture, and art in China, is planning additional events for the near future. In the following weeks, the Institute intends to hold handicraft workshops in several subjects for different groups.
