Taksim Wind Blows in Tunisia

Yunus Emre Institute continues to weave cultural networks across the globe with in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, inspired by the ancient Turkish culture.

Tunisia Yunus Emre Institute participated in the "International Festival of Carthage" organized under the auspices of the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, representing Türkiye.

Many countries took part in the large-scale cultural event hosted by the Carthage Theater in Tunisia and organized for the 57th time this year.

Turkish Music Influenced Thousands of Listeners

Approximately 6 thousand people, including the Turkish Embassy Undersecretary in Tunisia, Belgin Ergüneş, Tunisia Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ali İhsan Çevik, representatives of Turkish and local institutions, art lovers and guests, attended to the festival. 

In the program where the musical group "Taksim Trio", which participated in the festival from Türkiye, performed Turkish and Tunisian tunes, the cultural values of the two countries were brought to the same stage, Turkish music almost impressed the audience

At the music festival held in the Carthage Amphitheater, which was built in the 1st century AD, Yunus Emre Institute let Turkish music resonate in Tunisia.

Belgin Ergüneş, the Undersecretary of the Turkish Embassy in Tunisia made the following statement: “I would like to state that I am extremely happy to take part in this beautiful organization hosted by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture and prepared with the valuable contributions of our Yunus Emre Institute. As you know, art is the most valuable means that contributes to the development and deepening of cultural relations, and music is the main bridge.” 

Ergüneş made the following evaluations: “I think this night is a means for deepening cultural relations, and I would like to thank our music group Taksim Trio and its valuable artists for representing our country so well.” 

“As Yunus Emre Institute, we are happy to participate in the 57th International Carthage Festival, which was held this year under the auspices of the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, with the group "Taksim Trio", which has a large audience abroad. I would also like to thank the Tunisian Ministry of Culture for enabling the organization of the festival, those who contributed to the organization, and our Taksim Trio music group, who made us experience this beautiful night,” said Tunisia Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ali İhsan Çevik.

“At the international music festival held in Tunisia with the participation of artists from different countries of the world, we presented our Turkish music and cultural elements to the taste of music lovers on such a beautiful and impressive platform. Today, after witnessing the enthusiasm of music lovers here, we can say that the wind of Taksim blew in Tunisia,” said Coordinator Çevik.

The 57th International Festival of Carthage will continue until the August 19th, 2023 with the participation of artists from different countries.
