Organized with collaborations of the Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Germany Federal Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, Goethe Institute, S. Fischer Foundation and Robert Bosch Foundation, “Tarabya Translation Prize” ceremony was held on 30 November 2015, hosted by Berlin Yunus Emre Enstitüsü in NUMOV Conference Hall. Awarded for the sixth time this year, prizes aim to promote successful literary translations from Turkish into German.

Tarabya Translation Prizes, a Turkish-German joint project awarded as part of Ernst Reuter Initiative for Dialog and Mutual Understanding aim to encourage the intellectual and cultural exchange between Germany and Turkey and emphasize the important role translators have as intercultural ambassadors.

A grand prize and an encouragement prize are awarded to literary translations in each language. In this context, Barbara Yurtdaş received the Grand Prize with her successful translations from Turkish into German and Eric Czotscher the Encouragement Award, as Wolfgang Riemann was awarded a month of Working Scholarship in Istanbul for year 2016.

Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism Deputy Secretary Ass. Prof. Dr. Sefer Yılmaz and Germany Federal Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs General Manager Dr. Andreas Görgen presented the winners with the awards. Ceremony was attended by Turkish Republic Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu, Head of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Prof. Dr. Hayati Develi and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş and guests.
