Turkey and China introduced their cooperation projects in the field of sustainable energy at the "China and Turkey Shining with Energy, The Future of the Carbon Dream" event hosted by the State Power Investment Corporation of China (SPIC) in Beijing.

The online event held on December 7, 2022 awarded the winners of the photography contest, which aims to raise the interest of Chinese and Turkish youth in environmental ecology, climate policies and sustainable development issues. The event was attended by representatives from the political, business, cultural, academic and media communities of the two countries.

Supported by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ankara and the Beijing Yunus Emre Institute, the event focused on SPIC's projects in Turkey, especially the Hunutlu Thermal Power Plant in Adana, and the sustainable energy cooperation between the two countries.

In his speech at the event, Beijing Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Tayfun Kalkan stated their appreciation for SPIC's efforts to draw attention to climate change, one of the biggest problems facing the world.

In his speech, Shin Yi Chien, Counsellor for Political Affairs and Information at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ankara, pointed out that the most important component of China’s new modernization approach is the harmony between humankind and nature, and said that Turkey shares similar goals in terms of carbon neutrality, and therefore the two countries have great potential for cooperation in this field.

TURKEY AND CHINA SHARE THE SAME GREEN DREAM

General Manager of SPIC Mr. Baoqing Li stated that the relations between China and Turkey date back to ancient times and that the historical Silk Road has built a bridge of culture and cooperation between the two countries.

Baoqing emphasized that China and Turkey both attach great importance to sustainable development and energy, and share the same "green dream" of carbon neutrality.
