"Turkish Cultural Day" in Jordan

The opening of the Turkish Cultural Day has been conducted with a number of events held on Sunday, September 29, in Amman, the capital of Jordan.

The "Turkish Culture Days" event, implemented under the 2020 Turkey-Jordan Mutual Cultural Year Declaration of Intent, undersigned by Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy and Jordanian Culture and Youth Minister Mohammad Abu Roumman on September 17, kicked off with the activities organized jointly by Yunus Emre Institute's Amman Branch, Turkish Airlines (THY), AJIB Bank and Royal Film Commission under the auspices of the Turkish Embassy in Amman.

Held at Boulevard Shopping Mall, the event featured a group painting exhibition entitled "Breezes from Turkey," containing the works of Şefkat İşgelen and Nurten Ercan Coudrains. The opening of the exhibition was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Amman Murat Karagöz and Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Amman Rasim Rızayev, and the exhibition will be open to visitors until the evening on October 5.

Another event was undertaken in cooperation with the Royal Film Commission (RFC). The film "Dedemin İnsanları" (My Grandfather's People), directed by Çağan Irmak, was screened, attracting a great deal of attention of movie goers during the outdoor film screening event hosted by the RFC. Ambassador Karagöz and Prince Asim bin Nayef, from the Jordanian Royal Family, attended the screening.

The "Turkish Cultural Day," organized as part of preparations for the 2020 Turkey-Jordan Mutual Cultural Year, will run until the evening on October 6.
