Turkish Films in Austria

Turkish films will be screened in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and the award-winning director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will come together with Austrian moviegoers.

During the Turkish Film Week, to be hosted at Urania Movie Theater, one of the major artistic centers in the capital, between December 2 and 8, 2019, 16 films including 11 feature films will be presented to the taste of moviegoers.

Famed director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's films as well as the feature films which received various prizes at international film festivals will be screened at Urania, an important venue for artistic and cultural activities, while the short films will be aired at the Conference Hall of Yunus Emre Institute's Vienna Branch.

Award-winning Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will give a lecture for the cinema students at the Vienna Film Academy after attending the screening of his film "Ahlat Ağacı" (Wild Pear Tree) on Friday, December 6.

The Turkish Film Week, organized by Yunus Emre Institute with support from the Directorate General of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, will be opened with Tayfun Pirselimoğlu's "Yol Kenarı" and will feature Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da" (Once Upon A Time In Anatolia), "Kış Uykusu" (Winter Sleep) and "Ahlat Ağacı" (Wild Pear Tree) as well as Fikret Reyhan's "Sarı Sıcak" (Yellow Heat), Banu Sıvacı's "Güvercin" (The Pigeon), Ahmet Boyacıoğlu's "Paranın Kokusu" (The Smell of Money), Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun's "Anons" (Announcement) and Ömer Lütfi Akad's "Vesikalı Yârim."
