Türkiye’s Geographical Richness and Historical Values Introduced at the “Three Cultures Festival” in Madrid

Yunus Emre Institute continues to carry out influential cultural diplomacy activities around the world and to organize events that showcase Türkiye's rich cultural heritage.

The event titled "Three Cultures Festival" was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Madrid and the Municipality of Murcia in Spain and in coordination with Madrid Yunus Emre Institute.

 

Türkiye was among the participants in the 23rd edition of the Three Cultures Festival in Spain this year.

In the event hosted by the city of Murcia in southeastern Spain, Madrid Yunus Emre Institute inaugurated the exhibition titled "Türkiye: Harmony of Cultures" featuring 37 photographs of Istanbul, Mardin, Hatay, Edirne, Van and Trabzon, which bear the traces of the interaction between civilizations.

In addition to showcasing Türkiye's geographical beauty in Murcia, the Institute also exhibited an edict issued by Sultan Abdülaziz in 1866 to the Jewish community living in Türkiye.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Madrid Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ersin Adıgüzel stated that Türkiye has a rich social structure consisting of different faiths and that people of all faiths have been living together in Türkiye as brothers and sisters for centuries, with respect and tolerance for different religions.

The films "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia", "Winter Sleep", "Three Ways" and "Time for Love", which are among the outstanding works of Turkish cinema, will be screened between May 22-25, 2023 at the Three Cultures Festival.

Tambouri Murat Aydemir and Ney player Christos Barbas will perform a classical Turkish music concert at the festival on May 25, 2023.

INTEREST IN TURKISH CULTURE GROWS ACROSS SPAIN

Since 2018, Madrid Yunus Emre Institute has been carrying out activities in the capital Madrid as well as throughout Spain, bringing together Türkiye's cultural values with large masses and increasing the number of people interested in Turkish culture.
