Yunus Emre Institute and University of Malaya sign TABİP Protocol

Yunus Emre Institute and the University of Malaya, Malaysia's best, world-class university, have inked a memorandum of understanding regarding the Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Turkey (TABİP), which is carried out under the auspices of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic.

The signing ceremony held at the rectorate building of the University of Malaya, located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kuala Lumpur Merve Safa Kavakcı, Yunus Emre Institute's Kuala Lumpur Branch Director Dr. Ömer Altun, University of Malaya Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Hashim.  

During the briefing held ahead of the signing ceremony, Institute Director Dr. Altun provided detailed information on the TABİP protocol and talked about the contribution the deal will make to academic and scientific work.

Ambassador Kavakcı expressed her satisfaction over the deal. "We are pleased to see that Turkish and Malaysian scientists come together on this occasion. This deal will hopefully do a great service to humanity," she said.

Deputy Rector Prof. Hashim indicated that they closely monitor the academic and scientific studies conducted in Turkish universities and this agreement will pave the way for Turkish and Malaysian academics to develop constructive projects.

Following the keynote speeches, the agreement for the TABİP protocol was undersigned by Dr. Altun on behalf of the Institute and Prof. Dr. Abdul Hashim on behalf of the University.

Thus, the University of Malaya became the first university to sign the TABİP protocol in the region of Malaysia and Asia.

"We share Turkey's scientific capacity with the world."

Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş commented on the TABİP agreement, noting that science is neutral toward all world's citizens.

Ateş stated that the TABİP will contribute both to Turkey and to the individuals and institutions with whom Turkey shares its scientific capacity. "With this cooperation protocol made with Malaysia's best, world-class university, the University of Malaya, we have made a great stride forward to make TABİP Turkey's information portal opening to the Turkey and sharing its scientific capacity with the world," he said.

An effective academic and scientific network is being established

The TABİP is implemented by Yunus Emre Institute under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey with a view to promoting Turkey academic and scientific potential around the world and supporting Turkey's scientific and technological production. A new and effective academic and scientific network is targeted with the Portal and other software developed within the scope of the TABİP. 

In this context, the TABİP appeals not only to students or academics, but also to higher education institutions and the business community.

The Portal allows its users to be notified of all scientific development, emerging technologies and projects in Turkey and around the globe, create project groups, and exchange information with academics from anywhere around the world, and national institutions, scientists, academics and producers to contact each other via the Portal and engage in collaboration.
