"4 Women 4 Art" Exhibition in Beirut

Yunus Emre Institute opened the "4 Women 4 Arts" exhibition, consisting of the works of female academics from Türkiye, in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on the occasion of 8 March World Women's Day.

Izmir Democracy University Traditional Turkish Arts Department Head Assoc. Dr. Nurgül Begiç, Associate Professor from Adıyaman University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics. Dr. Öznur Yıldırım, Head of Artuklu University Handicrafts Department Assoc. Prof. Emine Dalıcı, Assoc. Prof. from Artuklu University Faculty of Fine Arts. Dr. Nesrin Yeşilmen, Beirut Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Esra Yılmaz, the staff of Türkiye's Embassy  in Beirut and many Lebanese women attended the event held at the Dar el Nemr Art Center in the capital.

They were Inspired by Anatolia

Beirut Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Yılmaz stated that 4 female academic artists will create a common art language in Beirut by combining their own styles and perspectives with their local works inspired by Anatolia, and will organize workshops in a wide range of areas such as felt, ceramics, fabric and jewelry.

Stating that academic artists will also exhibit their personal works, Yılmaz noted that they aim to raise awareness on this issue in order to highlight women's culture, arts and talents and to introduce them especially to Lebanon.

Talking about his own works and the works of other participating academicians in the exhibition, "We came to Beirut on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day. We are here as 4 academic female artists. After the opening of the exhibition, we have workshops. We came especially to introduce our art to women in Beirut." Assoc. Dr. Nurgül Begiç said,

Academics from Türkiye told Lebanese art lovers about how the different works they brought with them to the cultural center were made and the techniques they used.
