Education Diplomacy Activities in Brunei Continue with Great Momentum

Yunus Emre Institute continues to increase the number of educational institutions it cooperates with in Brunei as part of its education diplomacy activities in Asia.

In line with the goal of "introducing 1 million people to Turkish language and culture" set for the year 2023, the Institute has added the cooperation with the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) on Turkish language teaching to its work, which has started with great momentum.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bandar Seri Begavan, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Yunus Emre Institute and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) on January 16, 2023.

The signing ceremony hosted by the University was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Bandar Seri Begavan Prof. Hamit Ersoy and IBTE Technical Education Director Zamri Sabli.

The memorandum of understanding signed between Yunus Emre Institute and Institute of Brunei Technical Education will provide many opportunities for students and academics in both countries.

UNIVERSITY PERSONNEL IN BRUNEI TO LEARN TURKISH

As part of the memorandum of understanding signed to establish long-term cooperation between educational institutions in both countries, Yunus Emre Institute will start Turkish courses for the personnel of Institute of Brunei Technical Education, Brunei University of Technology and Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University.

Under the memorandum of understanding, cooperation will be possible in many fields, especially in the fields of language, science, art, history and culture, and joint cultural projects and activities will be carried out between the two countries.

THE TWO COUNTRIES ARE EXPANDING COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION

Ambassador Ersoy stated that this memorandum of understanding is the third agreement signed between Yunus Emre Institute and educational institutions in Brunei and that he is pleased with this new step.

Stating that they are trying to improve the educational relations between the two countries, Ersoy noted that they aim to provide more social interaction between the two peoples.

Regarding the memorandum of understanding, Ersoy said: "Institutions, students and academics will benefit from the memorandum of understanding. This will lead to more joint training, research and best practices."

This agreement demonstrates Turkey's commitment to the "Asia Again Initiative" foreign policy initiative and aims to strengthen academic cooperation and enhance people-to-people interaction, two of the four pillars of the policy.
