Göbeklitepe in Belgrade's Heart, Kalemegdan Park

Within the context of the 2019 Year of Göbeklitepe, Yunus Emre Institute has been promoting Göbeklitepe for the international public through various events including conferences and exhibitions on Göbeklitepe, the activities for promoting the Turkish cuisine under the theme of "12,000-Year-Old Adventure of Wheat" with chef Ömür Akkor, and the use of Göbeklitepe-centered toys during the "Kids, Let's Go Out" children festival as well as the "Turkey Week" festivities. In the same vein, during Turkey Week event themed as "Göbeklitepe: Humans and Life" in Belgrade between October 7 and 10, 2019, the Göbeklitepe Exhibition will be housed at Kalemegdan Park, one of the most important touristic sites in Belgrade. The historical adventure of Göbeklitepe's monumental works from their discovery to our time will be presented to the attention of Serbians.

Th events to be undertaken throughout the week which shares the humans and life adventure of Anatolia with the world will include the Göbeklitepe Conference, to be attended by Göbeklitepe Excavation Committee Chairman Celal Uludağ, at the University of Belgrade, the Anatolian Civilization Ceramic Exhibition and workshop by award-winning artists Prof. Dr. Sıdıka Sevim and Dr. Cemalettin Sevin, lecturers at the Anadolu University, the "Spirit of Anatolia" concert featuring extraordinary cello play and music mastery classroom by artist Uğur Işık, the promotion of Turkish cuisine and culinary workshops with the participation of chef Ali Açıkgül, offering of Turkish sherbets and delicacies, and the "GAP from Past to Present with Photographs" exhibition, curated by the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Regional Development Administration.

Conducting activities in many places around the world, Yunus Emre Institute will continue to promote our country's heritage in Tbilisi (Georgia) and Beirut (Lebanon) following the event in Serbia through the year-round activities in 2019 themed as "Göbeklitepe: Humans and Life."
