New Collaborations through Science Diplomacy

Having started its activities in Jerusalem in 2013 and in Ramallah in 2019 with Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centers under Consulate the General of Republic of Turkey, Yunus Emre Institute teaches Turkish language to hundreds of Palestinians and also organizes many arts and culture events each year.

With the aim to increase the number of people who forge bonds with Turkey all around the World, the Institute create collaborations between the Turkish and Palestinian institutions and supports scientific and academic relations between two countries.

As the latest outcome of this vision, the authorities of University of Jerusalem and Marmara University came together in İstanbul with the support of Yunus Emre Institute and signed a new memorandum of understanding on September 26, 2019.

Signed by Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Chancellor of the Marmara University and by Prof. Dr. Imad Kishk, Chancellor of the University of Jerusalem, primarily, the MoU is expected to develop academic and scientific collaboration between the Center for Jerusalem Studies of University of Jerusalem and Center for Research and Implementation on Jerusalem Studies of Marmara University. 

Within the scope of collaboration between the two universities, it is expected to start exchange programs for students and academicians and to make it easier for Palestinian researchers to use the Ottoman State Archives.
