Opera Stars of Turkic World Take Stage in Sarajevo and Belgrade

The Opera Stars of the Turkic World took stage in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the 36th Sarajevo Winter Festival, organized jointly by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) and Yunus Emre Institute under the auspices of the Council of Europe and UNESCO.

The concert by the "Opera Stars of the Turkic World," given at Sarajevo National Theater building as the official opening of the festival, drew a huge crowd of Sarajevo's art lovers.

During the concert, dedicated to the famous composer Beethoven on the 250th anniversary of his birth and Kazakh intellectual Abai Qunanbaiuly on the 175th anniversary of his birth, the artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey interpreted Qunanbaiuly's works.

Conductor Rustam Rahmedov from Turkmenistan, soprano Farida Mammadova from Azerbaijan, soprano Zhupar Gabdullina, baritone Talgat Kuzenbayev, dombra player Zhanargul Sarkenova from from Kazakhstan and qanun player Ahmet Baran from Turkey take part in the tournament.

Appearing again at the Bosnian Cultural Center in Sarajevo, the Opera Stars of the Turkic World gave their last concert in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia in the evening of January 10.

The concert given at Ilija Kolkarac Hall in the capital was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Belgrade Tanju Bilgiç, TÜRKSOY Secretary-General Düsen Kaseinov, Belgrade Yunus Emre Institute's Director Fahri Akdoğan, and many art lovers.
