Running for Democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina

July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day has been marked through various activities in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Mostar.

Within the context of the festivities organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Sarajevo Branch under the auspices of the Turkish Embassy in Sarajevo, "July 15 Democracy Race" has been held along the Vilsonovo walkway on Sunday, July 14.

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Sarajevo Haldun Koç delivered a keynote speech, reminding that the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported the Turkish nation during the abortive coup of July 15 by the Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ) and they have been marking July 15 together with the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina for three years.

The 3rd Democracy Race, backed by Turkey's institutions and organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was won by Serbian athlete Olivera Jevtic in the women's category and by Serbian athlete Stefan Cukovic in the men's category.

The contestants who successfully completed the 3.5-km race were presented with medals and rewards by the representatives of the Turkish institutions and organizations.

In Mostar, a southern city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a commemoration program has been held under the auspices of the Turkish Consulate General in Mostar. In the event, organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Mostar Branch, the Turkish nation's democratic struggle was stressed.

The historical landmark of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Stari Most, was illuminated with red and white lights in memory of the martyrs of July 15.
