South Koreans Competed by Speaking Turkish

Seoul Yunus Emre Institute continues to carry out its activities to popularize the Turkish language and culture in South Korea.

South Korean youth, who show great interest in Türkiye, Turkish language and Turkish culture, come together at events organized by the Seoul Yunus Emre Institute.

Seoul Yunus Emre Institute and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) Alumni Association organized the "4th Turkish Speaking Competition" on 9 December 2022.

The finals of the competition were held at the Obama Hall of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and protocol speeches were delivered by Turkish Ambassador to Seoul Murat Tamer, HUFS Vice Rector Jang Tae-Yeop and Head of Turkish and Azerbaijani Department Prof. Dr. Chong Jin Oh.

Students with beginner and intermediate level Turkish skills demonstrated their proficiency in speaking free Turkish in separate categories.

The Competition was sponsored by Turkish Airlines and THY Seoul Manager Mehmet Gürülkan presented round-trip tickets to Türkiye to the winners. Education Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Seoul Esin Tezbaşaran, Culture and Promotion Counselor Büşra Karatepe, Trade Counselor Münir Oğuz and HUFS Alumni Association President Cheon Bugi presented awards to the second and third place winners.

SOUTH KOREANS BROUGHT TURKISH CULTURE TO THE STAGE

The dance group "Yankı" (Echo) consisting of South Korean fine arts students performed Turkish folk dances, while students from the Department of Turkology enriched the evening with Turkish songs.

After the raffle among the students, various prizes were presented to the winners.
