“Talismanic Shirts” Exhibit in Shkodër

At the opening of the "Talismanic Shirts" exhibit organized by Shkodër Yunus Emre Institute, 30 valuable works of art prepared by Calligrapher Dr. Mehmet Vanlıoğlu, Illuminator Ayşe Vanlıoğlu and a working group of 13 people met with art enthusiasts.

Institute Coordinator Zafer Kıyıcı delivered the opening speech and expressed the joy of bringing the talismanic shirts worn by the Ottoman sultans to art lovers in Shkodër, after Tokyo and Cologne. He also emphasized that the pieces were feast for the eyes and thanked the illumination artist Ayşe Vanlıoğlu and the calligrapher Dr. He thanked Mehmet Vanlıoğlu.

“ART BRINGS THE PAST AND FUTURE OF A SOCIETY TO THE PRESENT

T.R. Tirana Embassy Education Counselor Mr. Metin Bulut gave the following words in his speech:

“Art is one of the most important factors that carry the past and traditions of a culture to the present as well as the future. The opening of this exhibition in Shkodër shows that the relations between Turkey and Albania are also effective in the field of culture.

Calligrapher Prof. Mehmet Vanlıoğlu, one of the architects of the "Talismanic Shirts" project, finished his speech with the following words after giving general information about the classification of the works in the exhibition, the branches of art applied in the works, the techniques used and the works:

“Our goal was to celebrate and commemorate our magnificent ancestors as a cultural mission. ‘I am closer to you than your jugular vein.’ As a manifestation of this verse, we wanted to draw attention to the feeling, behavior and mentality of the Ottoman Sultans, commanders and valiants, who regulate their attitudes and behaviors by feeling the majesty and power of Allah on their shirts, in the seven centuries-old history page."

Opening of the Talismanic Shirts exhibition were attended by Republic of Turkey Tirana Embassy Education Counselor Mr. Metin Bulut, Deputy Governor of Shkodër, Mr. Felek Kasemi, Mayor of Shkodër Mr. Voltan Ademi, Director of Shkodra Art Gallery, Mr. Fatmir Juka, Foreign Relations Officer of the University of Shkodër “Luigj Gurakuqi” Mr. Erard Çurçija, educators, artists and students.

Within the scope of the opening of the exhibition, which received great attention and appreciation, the compositions of the Ottoman sultans, played by Anton Kaftallı with his violin, created a fascinating atmosphere.

The exhibition ended with a plaque of appreciation to the artists and the presentation of prayer shirts to senior participants, followed by refreshments.
