Yunus Emre Institute continues to lend support to the efforts for teaching Turkish as an elective course at public schools in foreign countries.

With the "My Choice Is Turkish Project," consisting of activities for creating curricula and preparing textbooks for Turkish as a foreign language at primary/secondary educational institutions, the initiatives to make Turkish as a foreign language part of the official curricula are maintained with full steam, and the Institute is also offering support to the students during their Turkish classes.

The students who have selected Turkish as an elective or compulsory foreign language at the primary and secondary schools in many countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and Japan are visited during the classes.

Thus, the officials from Yunus Emre Institute have paid a visit to the 71st School and 55th School in Tbilisi after the new academic year started last week. The Institute officials chatted with the students and gifted stationery and educational materials which they would need in the new year.

More than 50,000 students at public school selected Turkish as an elective foreign language in eight years within the framework of the "My Choice is Turkish" project, which has been implemented by Yunus Emre Institute since the 2011-2012 academic year.
