Turkish Breeze Concert by Theo Loevendie in Amsterdam

The leading Dutch composer, Theo Loevendie, gave a concert entitled "Turkish Breeze" at Amsterdam's historic concert hall, Het Concertgebouw, in the evening of Saturday April 20, 2019, showcasing the pieces he composed with inspiration from Turkish music, and securing great acclaim from the audience.

Loevendie was accompanied by an orchestra of various musicians, and the concert was staged with transitions from classical music and jazz.

Among the pieces performed in the first section of the concert, the piece entitled "Aksak" (Syncopated), composed according to the Turkish music's characteristic syncopated rhythm, and performed using violin and piano, received huge praise.

The second part of the concert were characterized with jazzy rhythms, and Loevendie showcased his unique interpretation for his various composition, particularly including the piece entitled "Bayram" (Festival), which was composed in the "Passacaglia" form, used frequently in the Europa folk music in the 13th century and made famous later by Bach in the 17th century.

At the end of the program, the famous composer received accolade in the company of applause and flowers, and he was presented with a photograph taken by Ara Güler of him visiting Istanbul for the first time.
