Flamenco artist Berk Gürman gave an unforgettable concert at El Ejido on Saturday, the 5th February. The concert was hosted by the Municipality of El Ejido of the Andalusia region and in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Madrid, Madrid Yunus Emre Institute and La Loma Blanca. Gürman said that flamenco, which is a universal type of music, expresses people's feelings such as joy, love and sorrow in the deepest way with Turkish and Spanish songs.
ANATOLIAN, RUMELIAN AND AZERI FOLK SONGS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS CONCERT
In the concert, Gürman sang unique pieces such as "Selanik Türküsü" (Thessaloniki Folk Song), "Bülbülüm Altın Kafeste" (Nightingale in the Cage), "Tarla Kızları" (Field Girls), "Akşam Mahnısı" (Evening Song), "Uykuda mısın Sevgili Yârim" (Are You Asleep Darling?”. These folk songs belong to various regions of Turkish folk music such as Anatolia and Rumelia, as well as Azerbaijani folk music. Gürman also included songs such as Sezen Aksu's "Vazgeçtim" (I give up), Fikret Kızılok's "Gönül" (Heart) in his repertoire.
