Yunus Emre Institute has introduced yet another project for 2019. The Institute will organize "Children's Festival" in seven countries with a view to increasing the time children can be in contact with nature and drawing public attention to all sorts of dependence including screen addiction and reinforcing Turkey's image as a child-friendly country through traditional street games and art workshops.

During the two-day festival which will be organized by Yunus Emre Institute in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey and Ankara University's Children Culture Implementation and Research Center (ÇOKAUM), a host of different activities, including traditional street games and art workshops, will be offered to kids. The first "Children's Festival" will be held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, between April 13 and 14, 2019, and followed by the festivals in Amman (Jordan), Doha (Qatar), Madrid (Spain), Cologne (Germany), Vienna (Austria) and Seoul (South Korea).

During this festival, the Institute will call on children to "get outdoors" by opening the door to a world of fun in nature, containing traditional kids games and artistic workshops. 

Yunus Emre Institute initializes preparations for the Children's Festival

Training of the people who will take part in the activities was performed under the academic consultancy of Ankara University's Children Culture Implementation and Research Center.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports' camp leaders and Institute's personnel who will be commissioned in the activities undertook training in Antalya and Ankara between March 27 and 30, 2019. The training was given by Ankara University's academics Prof. Dr. Müge Artar, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Çakır İlhan, Dr. Ceren Karadeniz and Fedile Tilce and included not only theoretical courses such as child development and communication with children, children's festivals, intercultural communication, extramural learning environments and activity management, but also workshop application and examples of the practices that will be implemented in the festivals.
