A Book on Turkish Women Who Left Their Marks in History Introduced in Madrid

Yunus Emre Institute continues to organize Turkish language teaching activities in its foreign representative offices located in different regions of the world and cultural interaction events where Turkey's rich cultural heritage is introduced, as well as special events introducing Turkish personalities who left their mark on the centuries-old Turkish culture.

In cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Madrid, Madrid Yunus Emre Institute, the Municipality of Bağcılar, and the Association of Women for Dialogue and Education, the book "Turkish Women: The Light of Civilization", which features remarkable Turkish women from the past to the present such as Tomris Hatun, Kösem Sultan and Halide Edip Adıvar, was introduced in Madrid.

Delivering the opening speech at the book launch program hosted by Madrid Yunus Emre Institute, Mayor of Bağcılar Municipality Abdullah Özdemir expressed his pleasure for publishing this book, which presents the important contributions of Turkish women in cultural and social life from the past to the present.

Undersecretary and Temporary Chargée d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Madrid Ayşe Zeybek pointed out the important roles Turkish women have played in all aspects of life and the heroic roles they have played in thousands of years of Turkish history. She stated that she is pleased to witness the increasing number of pioneering Turkish women who shape science and culture.

THE BOOK IS IMPORTANT FOR THE WISE, STRONG AND BRAVE TURKISH WOMEN TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED MORE ACCURATELY AND CLOSELY IN THE WORLD

In her speech, the President of the Association of Women for Dialogue and Education Giovanna Calderon stated that women in Turkish and Islamic history have played important roles in every aspect of life, from state administration to the defense of the homeland on the front line. She added that the publication of the book "Turkish Women: The Light of Civilization", which includes the biographies of 50 Turkish women from as early as the 6th century BC to the 20th century, who left important marks in Turkish history, is extremely important for the wise, strong and brave Turkish women to be acknowledged more accurately and closely in the world.

THE BOOK FEATURES THE BIOGRAPHIES OF 50 TURKISH WOMEN

Presenting the book, Madrid Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ersin Adıgüzel stated that 50 Turkish women, whose biographies are featured in the book, each with different characteristics, made extremely important contributions to state and social life with the responsibilities they undertook and the duties they performed.

Adıgüzel stated that the book titled "Turkish Women: The Light of Civilization" is planned to be translated into Spanish, so that over 500 million people whose mother tongue is Spanish can access this valuable publication.
