“Culture, Language and History on the 100th Anniversary of Turkey-Albania Diplomatic Relations” Talk in Tirana

Yunus Emre Institute continues to be an essential actor in international relations by strengthening the friendship ties between Turkey and other countries through the activities it carries out in over 80 foreign representative offices across over 60 countries and by laying the groundwork for the establishment of lasting cultural ties and intercultural dialogue.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Albania, a talk titled "Culture, Language and History on the 100th Anniversary of Turkey - Albania Diplomatic Relations" was held in cooperation with the Tirana Yunus Emre Institute and the Education Counsellor's Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Tirana, with the participation of the President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History Prof. Yüksel Özgen.

The event hosted by the Institute was attended by the President of Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History Prof. Yüksel Özgen, Tirana Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ömer Osman Demirbaş, Education Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Tirana Metin Bulut, representatives of Turkish institutions, researchers, students and invited guests.

President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History Prof. Yüksel Özgen stated in his speech at the talk, "We are holding the first program of the 100th anniversary events abroad in Tirana today. This also shows the importance we attach to the relations between Turkey and Albania. As Atatürk Supreme Council and Atatürk Research Center Presidency, we carry out social and cultural activities to fulfill the vision of Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of the Republic of Turkey, to bring Turkey to the level of civilized states in the world and to carry it to the place it deserves."

Özgen stated that they attach great importance to the relations between Albania and Turkey and that they value the issues related to culture, history and geography in these relations on behalf of their institutions, and continued his words as follows:

"We value Turkey's 100 years of history and the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Albania. We hope to carry the relations between Albania and Turkey even further in the next century than they have been this century."

Tirana Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ömer Osman Demirbaş emphasized the importance of organizing events that highlight international relations and stated, "2023 is the centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Albania. This year is also the 100th anniversary of our Republic. In the first event of 2023, it is of particular importance for us to touch upon the fields of culture, language and history in the diplomatic relations between the two countries."
