Hilya Sharif Exhibition Opened in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Hilya Sharif Exhibition was opened in the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the birth of the Prophet Mohammad with the collaboration of Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute and Preporod Bosniak Cultural Association.

The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Preporod Bosniak Cultural Association. The exhibition which was opened on November 9, 2021 was held at the Islahiyet House in Brčko. 30 works of calligraphists and gilts from Turkey were included in the exhibition.

Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Director Mehmet Akif Yaman, painter Ilhana Latifoviç and archaeologist Enida Murseloviç participated in the opening program of the exhibition.

Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Director Mehmet Akif Yaman said that the Institute has been organizing Turkish language courses since 2009 besides creating different projects in the fields of culture and art and carrying out various activities. Yaman also mentioned that the organizations and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina strived to contribute to the projects and activities.

Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator for Culture and Art Samed Paşaliç mentioned that Hilya tradition emerged from the need of the artists to express their love for the Prophet.

Painter Ilhana Latifoviç, on the other hand, said that the main element of the Hilya tradition was the peak of the decorativeness of calligraphy and was a breath that encircled the world with a climate of peace.

The art lovers in Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity to examine the valuable works thanks to the exhibition. The exhibition that includes very rare examples of the Hilya art tradition remained open until November 23, 2021.

IT WAS ALSO HELD IN THE CITIES OF ZENICA AND BREZA

Hilya Sharif Exhibition was held in the city of Zenica of Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 18, 2021 and in the city of Breza on November 4, 2021. The exhibition was carried out with the contribution of Yunus Emre Institute and was organized in collaboration with the Islam Union Assemblies and Bosniak Cultural Association Preporod.

Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Director Mehmet Akif Yaman, Zenica Preporod Gallery President Amna Sofiç, Zenica Islam Union Assembly President Muhamed Begagiç, Zenica Islam Union Assembly Chief Imam Jakub Salkica and ZE-DO Canton's Minister of Education Spahija Kozliç have also participated in the opening program of the exhibition held in Zenica.

Breza Preporod President Derviş Kadriç, Breza Islam Union Assembly Chief Imam Zeid Sokiç and Breza Major Vedad Jusiç have participated in the opening program of the exhibition held in Breza.

Hilya Sharif continues as a form of art that expresses the characteristics, appearance and good ethics of the Prophet Mohammed through calligraphy and illumination. The Hilya Sharif tradition that has been ongoing for centuries is held important throughout the world.
