Script Writing Workshop in Belgrade, the Capital of Serbia

Screenwriting workshop training organized in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute (YEI), International Civil Society Support and Development Association (STD) and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty of Communication, started on March 6th, 2024.

The workshop, which consists of 12 lessons given by TRT TÜRK Channel Coordinator Bülent Ata in December and February, aims to teach all the necessary technical details and script writing stages about cinema and theater writing.

Turkish students living in Europe attended the workshop online and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University students attended the workshop face to face at STD's association building in Ankara Hamamönü. The students who were successful were taken to Belgrade.

A scenario regarding YEI's Turkish teaching will be prepared for students in the 3-day face-to-face scenario training workshop held in the Belgrade YEI building.

Belgrade YEI Coordinator Dinser Şahin stated that students are studying how Turkish education is provided at YEI and what the institution does abroad.

Stating that the students participating in the workshop will produce a good work on YEI, Şahin stated that Serbian students learning Turkish also participated in the project.

Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Ayşe Elif Emre Kaya said that the project has been going on for three months and is an important project to gain professional knowledge.

Stating that a short film will be shot with the scenarios emerged in the workshop, "The text that we have agreed upon here and believe will represent our institution in the best way will be turned into a scenario and YEı will use it in its promotion. Such professional knowledge and skills will contribute to the development of students and their future future. It will shed light on their careers. I am proud to be involved in this important activity." Kaya said.

Prof. Dr. Kaya thanked all stakeholders who helped bring the project to life.

Funda Keleş, a 3rd year student at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, noted that she gained information about script writing in the workshop

Keleş underlined that he contributed to his development with what he learned in the scenario workshop and stated that they will create a short film describing YEI's activities in Serbia with the text they will create.

Mehmet Gündüz, who participated from France, also noted that the scenario he wrote was about a Serbian young man finding his family's story about Türkiye, and thus starting to learn Turkish.

Keleş underlined that he contributed to his development with what he learned in the scenario workshop and stated that they will create a short film describing YEI's activities in Serbia with the text they will create.
