“Silent Road” Screening in London

Londra Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, 7 Mart 2024 tarihinde, yetenekli ve ödüllü yönetmen Merve Çirişoğlu'nun çarpıcı kısa animasyon filmi Sessiz Yol'un (The Silent Route) özel ve samimi gösterim etkinliğine katılan seçkin bir davetli grubunu ağırladı.

London Yunus Emre Institute hosted a distinguished group of guests who attended the special screening event of the talented and award-winning director Merve Çirişoğlu's striking short animated film, The Silent Route, on March 7, 2024.

The Touching and Powerful Story of a Young Woman Caught in the Middle of War

The Silent Road, a short animated film, tells the touching and powerful story of a young woman who sets out with her newborn baby and three elderly relatives during wartime and encounters obstacles at the border. The bullock carts of the protagonists in the film's story get stuck near a security outpost, and while they are haunted by the fear of being captured by the enemy, they are greeted by an unexpected side of humanity.

The film, with a total duration of eight and a half minutes, attracted the audience with its beautiful visuals, impressive characters and captivating music. The film, whose script was written by Merve Çirişoğlu, based on Faisal Hossain's original story, was also directed, produced and animated by Çirişoğlu.

The event started with a warm introduction and welcome speech by London Yunus Emre Institute. Then, the guests were treated to a special screening of the movie The Silent Road, which left them in awe. The struggles and hopes of the heroes of the film were among the deeply touching details in the film. Following the screening, the director shared the background stories and creative process of the film, revealing some of the challenges and inspirations behind his work.

“Small acts of kindness create a butterfly effect”

Çirişoğlu talked about the power of animation as a striking tool to convey stories and emotions. He presented his film Silent Road as an inspiring work that reflects his creative vision and passion for social issues. He explained how the film shows the impact small acts of kindness can have on people's lives and the butterfly effect it can create. He also talked in detail about the personal life story of Faisal Hossain, the inspiration for the film and the author of the original story. He said that Faisal Hossain reached out to her to share his story and collaborate on the film. He emphasized that the film is a fictional work based on a personal and original story, but is also fed on history. He then explained how he designed the characters, the flow of the story and the symbols in the film, and what he paid attention to in the creative process. He also stated that there is no dialogue in the film, which was a conscious choice to make the film universal and understandable by everyone. Finally, he talked about the technical production process of the film, the difficulties he encountered and the successes he achieved during this process. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the guests and organizers. Visitors who attended the event asked their questions to the director in the question-answer session after the screening of the film. The question and answer session was lively and interesting, with guests showing their curiosity and excitement. The event ended with Turkish treats that added flavor and warmth to the night.
