Bağcı congratulated Aliyeva and wished her success. Stating that he will follow the exam results, Bağcı expressed that he will take care of the students after they are placed in universities and wished them success.

THE FIRST APPLICATION WAS REALIZED IN 2013

In order to ensure that Turkish has a standardized exam with international validity and to support policies facilitating the admission of foreign students, TYS was developed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) by Yunus Emre Institute Examination Center, to measure the language proficiency of individuals learning Turkish as a foreign or second language.

The first application of the Turkish Proficiency Exam, which measures the proficiency of individuals aged 16 and over in 4 basic language skills, was held in 2013. TYS has been held simultaneously 3 times a year in Yunus Emre Institute centers abroad and in Turkey since 2013.

TYS is held in three sessions and has reading and listening questions in the first session, writing questions in the second session and speaking questions in the third. Candidates who are successful are awarded the “Turkish Proficiency Certificate”.

Developed in line with the CEFR, TYS is of great importance in terms of increasing foreign students’ interest in Turkey, as well as facilitating the admission of these students to universities and ensuring that they are evaluated on a more robust level.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE PREPARATORY CLASS AT UNIVERSITIES

Taking important steps in the field of education as well as different cultural and artistic activities, the Institute offers a great opportunity for candidates who want to study and work in Turkey and certify their Turkish language proficiency. Especially in these times when universities will start online classes, the fact that they can get their Turkish certificates from the countries they are in also provides an advantage to the candidates.

Having been held at 59 exam centers in 44 countries so far, TYS aims to be an internationally standardized Turkish exam and to support policies that facilitate student admission from abroad.

In the exam, candidates are asked questions in the fields of reading, listening, writing and speaking. Those who are successful in these fields are granted a Turkish Proficiency Certificate and are exempted from taking Turkish preparatory classes when they gain the right to study at any university in Turkey.

Candidates wishing to work at companies with international operations in Turkey or in their own countries or work as Turkish interpreters or teach Turkish abroad will also secure a huge advantage in their job applications.
