XXXVI Kononov Readings Conference in St. Petersburg

The conference entitled Kononov Readings was held between the dates of October 29-30, 2021 at the St. Petersburg State University in Russia.

The conference, which is organized since 1986 and dedicated to the Russian Turcologist, linguist and scholar Andrey Nikolayevich Kononov (1906-1986), was organized this year with the contributions of St. Petersburg State University Oriental Faculty Turkish Philology Department, St. Petersburg Oriental Studies Development and Support Center, Moscow Yunus Emre Institute, and Akhmet Yassawi University from Turkey.

TURKISH PEOPLES FROM THE PAST TO TODAY

During the event in which the Turcologists delivered presentations in various subject, the Institute also delivered a presentation that introduced its activities. 

The conference addresses different topics in annual studies such as the history, culture, ethnography and literature of the Turkish peoples of the past and today, and the formation, development and structure of the Turkish peoples' languages.

During the two-day long program which was held for the 36th time this year, the Russian Turcologists, on the first day, and the young Turkish Turcologists, on the second day, presented their papers in various fields of Turcology. Papers and presentations were delivered in Russian, English and Turkish.
