Intercultural Strategic Communication Training Programme for Future Peace Ambassadors of Bosnia-Herzegovina

Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) is organizing a special training program for the 30th anniversary of Bosnia-Herzegovina's regaining its independence in cooperation with the Ankara Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The opening of the "Intercultural Strategic Communication Applied Training Programme" held at the Yunus Emre Institute Istanbul Education Center on 19 February 2022, was attended by Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Şeref Ateş and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Ambassador to Ankara Adis Alagiç.

Speaking at the opening, Ateş said that the Institute is trying to further strengthen the historical friendship and kinship relations between Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina in every field, and that they attach great importance to the relations between the two countries to add more content in the cultural and humanitarian fields.

Pointing out that cultures are complementary to each other, Ateş said, "After the establishment of Yunus Emre Institute, our first center was opened in Sarajevo. This shows how important Bosnia-Herzegovina is for Turkey and Yunus Emre Institute. At the same time, we see Bosnia-Herzegovina as a reflection of Turkish cultural roots, that is, as a part of a civilization that we have been living and creating together."

Şeref Ateş emphasized that they attach importance to 'peace' as an active form of action and explained that as Yunus Emre Institute, their main aim is to spread the 'greeting' culture in the world.

In addition, Ambassador Adis Alagiç pointed out that the Yunus Emre Institute has a very important mission to further strengthen peace in the Balkans and stated that Yunus's message of universal peace has been successfully conveyed to all countries of the world within the scope of the education, culture and art activities carried out by the Institute.

Expressing his happiness to be a part of such a program, Alagiç stated that they want to contribute to world peace by organizing such beneficial and touching scientific activities together with Yunus Emre Institute in the future.
Emphasizing that everything Bosnians need is in Turkey,

Alagic said, "Such as entrepreneurship, non-governmental organizations and associations, trade, investments, advanced technology, statist understanding. We can all benefit from these by interacting more with one another. I think that with the program that started today, significant contributions will be made in the field of communication."

With the training program, it is aimed to train volunteer peace envoys who will give peace messages to the international community regarding the unity and integrity of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Intercultural Strategic Communication Applied Training Programme, which will continue for three weeks, will proceed through the modules of "Strategic Analysis", "Strategic Communication" and "Strategic Engagement".

With the contributions of Turkey's leading academics, diplomats, bureaucrats, artists, businesspeople, soldiers and journalists, the program will continue in the axis of seminars and workshops with applied practices. Citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina who live in Turkey, have received or are studying higher education in Turkey, and speak Turkish, will participate in these activities.

TOGETHER FOR A MORE PROSPEROUS AND MORE PEACEFUL BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

Yunus Emre Institute Cultural Diplomacy Academy Coordinator Dr. Melih Barut from Hacettepe University is with the participants of the program. 

Intercultural Strategic Communication Applied Training Programme, which will be conducted face-to-face on weekends through eye-opening speeches, seminars, workshops, cultural events and technical trips, and remotely on weekdays via Education Management Systems in a digital environment, will start on 19 February 2022 and last for 3 weeks.

With the vision of "A More Prosperous and Peaceful Bosnia-Herzegovina” and the understanding of "Coexistence of Diversity", the training program developed within the scope of Yunus Emre Institute Cultural Diplomacy Academy with the contributions of the Embassy of Bosnia-Herzegovina, through the modules of "Strategic Analysis", "Strategic Communication" and "Strategic Engagement" will progress.

With the contributions of Turkey's leading academics, diplomats, bureaucrats, artists, businesspeople, soldiers and journalists, the program will continue in the axis of seminars and workshops with applied practices. Citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina who live in Turkey, have received or are studying higher education in Turkey, and speak Turkish, will participate in these activities. Within the scope of the program organized with the contributions of TRT General Directorate, Education and Research Department, the participants will visit TRT World channel and participate in the “Journalism for Young People” program.

In the program, Adis Alagiç, Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, Havva Kök Arslan, Şeref Ateş, Şekip Avdagiç, Melih Barut, Mesut Hakkı Caşin, Burak Küntay, Fikret Özer, Erkan Saka, Hasan Şehovic, Görgün Taner, Emel Topçu, Erhan Türbedar, Osman Can Ünver, expert speakers, including Ali Murat Vural and Ahmet Yıldız, will take place to provide training and seminars to citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina living in Turkey.

The first phase of the "Intercultural Strategic Communication Applied Training Programme", prepared under the academic and technical direction of Dr. Melih Barut from Hacettepe University, will be held at the Yunus Emre Institute Istanbul Training Center under the coordination of Yunus Emre Institute Cultural Diplomacy Academy, and the second phase is planned to be held in Sarajevo.

In addition, in line with the demands of Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens living in different countries abroad, this training program is expected to be revised according to the needs and organized within the framework of the 30th anniversary events of the regaining of independence of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
